OYE!

Our family in front of a concrete truck made out of Legos.
You know sometimes when your life is so busy and you forget about the little mundane things to survive life?...oops! I forgot about blogging the random hum dums of the Wear Family. So a quick-end-of-the-summer catch up. We took a trip to Texas for the Wear Family reunion. There we met up with a few 'old' friends and took in some new sites. The kids absolutely loved LEGOLAND. If you EVER get the chance to see one--I highly recommend it!! Essentially, Dallas/Ft Worth Landmarks are replicated using Legos and the detail is absolutely amazing!

Kolson on the little motorcycle
Karis and Kinlee riding the motorcycle made of Legos!
Here's the Ballpark at Arlington--AmeriQuest Field?? --made completely out of Legos and Lego men
Skyscraper complete with the window washers.
I wonder what kind of degree you have to have to play with Legos everyday for your job?

Kolson figured out walking...2 weeks later than the girls but we are once again chasing a little one who lacks the knowledge and foresight to recognize danger. Needless to say, we have had a slight increase in our demands for bandages and ice packs (or frozen vegetables) lol!

Kinlee turned two and she hit the 'terrible' twos...she really epitomizes the typical 2yr old attitude some days and makes mom wonder why we decided to keep having kids after Karis :) Nah, there are some pretty bad days but there are waaaaaay more good days. Kinlee is a very loving, little, big sister. She makes sure to tattle on Karis and reminds mom that 'Kolson wants some milk' everytime he cries :D I love seeing what she has been working on in her brain. She continues to surprise me with the things she knows. She counts to 8 or 9 (still working on getting 1 in there sometimes), knows most of her colors, and she knows the letter O by sight. Hey, ya gotta start somewhere!

Karis has officially started school and on the 4K orientation day, she was the ONLY kid on her bus...luckily she knew the busdriver so she wasn't apprehensive much. She did wantt o know why I wasn't going to ride the bus with her. When she started school, she didn't cry at all! The same cannot be said for Mom and Grandma! Both were a little a misty-eyed. Funny how fast that time goes!

Then Mom thought she should play some softball during the Prentice Progress Days Softball Tournament...not such a great idea when you haven't actually played since high school. I'm not in shape AT ALL! and I also discovered that I'm not as quick on my feet as I used to be...and the recovering time is longer...who'd have thunk it? My sister Taylor went on to take the Miss Prentice title--she'll now be riding in every parade in the area until the next labor day festivities!

So that brings you up to date in a nutshell! and I'll try to get back into blogging more often so that you don't have to read a novella eveytime I do update :D God's Blessings!!

Dandelions; New Playground Equipment; Hot, Hot, Hot

Whew! It's a hot one outside--the last few days we've either broken heat records or come close. We busted out the little blue pool for the kids--Karis and Kinlee love the water. Kolson is a little apprehensive, moreso when the water is freezing cold. Kolson is pulling up on furniture more effortlessly and he starting to understand how to get down--still a little rough on the landing but I'll venture to guess that by the time we leave for Texas he will have it down. Karis is beginning to draw what she sees...the other day she drew her rendition of a dandelion in chalk on the driveway and it was perfect. If you can imagine a yellow sunlike object with a green stem, that's what it ended up being. I'd post a picture if I could but one, I haven't figured out how to post actual pictures yet and two, the drawing met its demise when she was watering plants for Mom. :) Kinlee is two now, and she's not afraid to assert her will on anyone who dares to challenge her. She is quite the talker and comes up with her own version of one-liners. Too funny. Dora is her hero so the kid is all about climbing 'tallest mountain' and the 'Piggie Pirates'

The park near our home is getting new playground equipment today and the girls have spotted some of it as it is being installed. I've tried to explain to them that they wil not be able to play on it for a day or two while the footings set and the pea gravel is finally leveled out. They are chomping at the bit. Thanks to the project committee and their diligence in making sure we have safe equipment for the kids to play on.

the weekend

We had a great weekend at the Wear household...not a ton of activity planned but we did enjoy the decent weather. I started off the weekend with a trip to Valley Fair...I had forgotten how much I enjoy roller coasters. I conquered 'Wild Thing' which I was afraid to do back in the 8th grade when we went for our end-of-the-year class trip.
Graduation weekend around town...lots of parties but unfortunately, we didn't get around to a single one...so sorry to the grads who invited us :(
Kolson has figured out how to pull up on things...and by the end of the weekend he has grown quite proficient at it. The only problem now is figuring out how to get down and part of that is learning that he cannot just 'let go'!! So don't be surprised if you see a few new bruises on the boy :)
With the crazy windy weather today, I am a little sad to see my formerly fully blossomed flowering crab tree slowly losing its blooms. I did manage to take a picture this year which is the first since we have lived here...I would always wait 'one more day' and find that a freak thunderstorm or a brisk wind would wreck God's handiwork.
And as it always seems to be the case, I have a rather large pile of laundry to get crackin' at today so I will be sweating in the laundry room.

Unplanned and overbooked

So I was thinking that I had nothing to do today besides helping my cousin put together some furniture for her new rental house and maybe a couple loads of laundry when I got home...but now I am compiling a list of things to pack for my kids to take with them tomorrow while I go out and play. I was asked by a family member to go to ValleyFair because she was given an extra ticket...the stipulation--one ticket means no kids so I had to find a sitter. A wonderful woman volunteered to take all three kiddos for the day, but the only thing is I have to pack a few bags with things they may need throughout the day. Now as I type this out, I am trying to remember everything my kids need to have packed and everything I need to do before I leave tomorrow morning...oh yeah, and work on the ever-mounting laundry pile. :)

A New Journey

I have officially joined the blogger ranks...we'll see how it goes. I haven't decided what this blog will become so until I find some direction for it, it will be general musings and thoughts.
